On June 28, Attley and Avery turned 6 months old. Whoa... It was an emotional day for me. I never imagined (despite warnings from everyone) that the 6 months would fly by quite so quickly. I am not ready for my babies to be 6 months old. That means they are half way to a year old. I want to press a pause button to keep them from getting older until I feel like I have cuddled them in my arms long enough to last a lifetime (which would probably mean I would pause forever, because I don't think I will ever get enough of the feeling of holding my babies in my arms). I watched every video we have taken of them in bed that night and marveled at how much they have grown. It truly is amazing. And though I was a bit traumatized about them getting older, more than anything, I am grateful that God finally blessed us with these precious girls, and that they are healthy and happy.
Now that I have bored you all with the sappy stuff, let me recap the happenings of the 5th month for you. First of all, my sweet Avery had her two bottom teeth come in precisely on June 1, 2011, at 5 months, 4 days old. A little early for teeth and unfortunately, she likes to bite things which does not bode particularly well in the breastfeeding department. Attley started sleeping on her tummy, despite our best efforts to keep her on her back. Avery learned to jump, really jump, in her jumperoo. The girls continued to do well with eating their solids. They have moved on to oatmeal cereal, and have now tried carrots, bananas, and avocado. They were a little unsure of the avocado, but who can blame them? I didn't like it until I was pregnant. They both laugh a lot more, including at each other. They now wiggle like alligators on the changing table. They still sleep 13+ hours a night, which continues to amaze us. I suppose the biggest news is that Attley is mobile. She is not crawling, but she pulls herself around on her arms and gets around pretty well. Not sure what to say about that, other than I am not ready! Below is a video that captures the kind of progress she is able to make on her own.
We are headed on vacation next week, so their 6 month check-up is not until June 21, so I won't be able to post their 6-month stats until then.
So sweet! Gosh, you are gonna have your hands full with that little Attley ! I love how Avery is just happy go lucky, laid back, and relaxed! It is funny how they are so different!
